# Project data in Excel that stays up to date

Load tasks, milestones and assignments into Excel from a read-only OData feed and refresh them in one click, with no CSV to download each time.

Available · Free, included in every account · Files

## Live data in Power BI and Excel

An OData feed in read-only mode: Power BI and Excel load your plans as tables and refresh them when you want, with no file to export.

### Where it helps

- A portfolio dashboard with progress, delays and milestones of every project.
- Weekly status in Excel, updated with one click.
- Work per person, combined with timesheets or budget data.

### What travels where

**From Planitude to Microsoft Excel**

- Projects with dates, progress, variance and task counts → Projects table
- Tasks with WBS, dates, durations, progress, critical path and baseline → Tasks table
- Milestones with date, baseline date and variance → Milestones table
- Dependencies FS, SS, FF and SF with lag → Dependencies table
- Assigned people and work per task → Resources and Assignments tables

## Connect it in three steps

1. **Copy the feed URL**: In the project, open Export › Power BI / Excel: copy the URL of the project or of every project you can see in the workspace.
2. **Create a read-only key**: One click creates a personal key that can only read, limited to the workspace and valid for one year. It is shown once: you can revoke it in Profile › API keys.
3. **Connect and refresh**: In Power BI choose Get data › OData feed, in Excel Data › Get Data › From Other Sources › From OData Feed. Paste the URL, choose Basic with the key as password, select the tables and load them.

## Requirements

- **Plan**: Free. Every integration is included in every Planitude account.
- **Who can connect it**: Anyone with access to the project: the feed shows only what that person can see.
- **What you need**: Power BI Desktop or the Power BI service, or Excel for Windows or Mac with Get Data.

## Good to know

- Read-only: no report can change the plan.
- You only see the projects you can open in Planitude; a key limited to a workspace cannot read the others.
- Filters, sorting and paging are applied by the feed: Power BI and Excel load only what they ask for.

## Guides and documentation

- [OData feed: address, tables and options](https://planitude.app/developers#odata): Authentication, the six tables, $select, $filter, $orderby, paging and limits.

## Frequently asked questions about Microsoft Excel

### Does the data refresh on its own?

The data follows the plan every time you refresh. In Excel you can refresh on open or at intervals; in the Power BI service you can schedule refreshes with the same key.

### Can I use the feed with other tools?

Yes. It is a standard OData v4 feed, with its $metadata: any client that reads OData can use it. The technical details are in the developer documentation.

### Do the integrations cost anything?

No. Every integration is included in Planitude, which is free. You only need your own access to the other tool (for example a Jira, Slack or Microsoft 365 account) under its own terms.
