# Export the plan to Microsoft Project XML, CSV and PDF

Take the plan wherever it is needed: an XML file that opens in Microsoft Project, a CSV for Excel, and a printout or PDF of the full Gantt chart.

Available · Free, included in every account · Files

## Export to Microsoft Project XML, CSV and PDF

The plan is never locked in Planitude: export it in a format Microsoft Project opens, to a spreadsheet, or to a PDF to attach to a report.

### Where it helps

- Hand the plan over to a client who works with Microsoft Project.
- Analyze tasks and variances in Excel.
- Attach the Gantt chart to a report or to meeting minutes.

### What travels where

**From Planitude to File**

- Tasks, durations, dependencies, calendars and baselines → Microsoft Project XML (MSPDI)
- ID, WBS, dates, duration, progress, predecessors, resources and baseline → CSV for Excel
- The full Gantt chart, with critical path, baseline and progress → Print and PDF

## Connect it in three steps

1. **Open the project**: From any project view, open the Export menu.
2. **Choose the format**: Microsoft Project (.xml) opens in MS Project with File › Open; the CSV has one row per task, with predecessors and resources; Print / PDF shows the full Gantt chart in a print view.
3. **Use the file**: Open the XML in Microsoft Project, the CSV in Excel, or save the PDF from the browser’s print dialog in landscape orientation.

## Requirements

- **Plan**: Free. Every integration is included in every Planitude account.
- **Who can connect it**: Anyone with access to the project, read-only included.
- **What you need**: No external account. To open the XML you need Microsoft Project; for the CSV, a spreadsheet.

## Good to know

- Export is also available to people with read-only access to the project.
- For automatic, recurring exports, use the REST API.

## Frequently asked questions about Export

### Can I reopen an exported file in Planitude?

Yes. The Microsoft Project XML can be imported again as a new project, with tasks, dependencies and baselines.

### Does the PDF contain the whole chart?

Yes. The print view contains the full Gantt chart, with the legend, the date range and the date it was generated.

### Do the integrations cost anything?

No. Every integration is included in Planitude, which is free. You only need your own access to the other tool (for example a Jira, Slack or Microsoft 365 account) under its own terms.
